Candle Care
A few small habits keep a sculptural candle burning cleanly, evenly and safely for as long as possible.
Trim the Wick
- Trim the wick to 5–7 mm (¼ inch) before each burn.
- This helps prevent smoking and excessive flickering.
- It also keeps the flame stable and promotes a clean, even burn.
First Burn
- During the first burn, allow the wax to melt evenly across the entire top surface.
- This helps establish an even burn.
- It also prevents tunnelling, where the candle burns only around the wick.
Burn Time
- Do not burn your candle for more than 3–4 hours at a time.
- Allow the candle to cool completely before relighting.
- Excessive burn time may affect the stability of the flame and the candle’s fragrance performance.
Placement & Safety
- Always place your candle on a flat, heat-resistant surface or candle tray.
- As sculptural candles are container-free, melted wax may drip during burning.
- Keep away from drafts, flammable materials, children and pets.
Extinguishing the Flame
- Avoid blowing out the flame.
- Use a candle snuffer, or gently dip the wick into the melted wax and straighten it again.
- This minimises smoke and helps keep the wick in good condition.
Storage
- Store your candle in a cool, dry place.
- Keep it away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
- Proper storage helps preserve both the candle’s appearance and fragrance.
Safe Candle Use
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Always extinguish the flame before leaving the room or going to sleep.
- Stop using the candle when approximately 1 cm (½ inch) of wax remains at the base.
- Always allow the candle to cool completely before handling or moving it.
